Here at Defib4Life, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the latest portable AED. Since the CELLAED device was discontinued and the manufacturer is now in administration, we’ve been looking for a new solution for customers to replace old devices and offer a portable solution for a range of organisations.
Cardiac arrest doesn’t always happen in the workplace or the middle of a busy city centre where defibrillator access is easy. It can happen outdoors, at sporting events, in remote areas or even on a family day out, so being equipped can make all the difference when emergency strikes.
That’s why we’re so excited to introduce a powerful new addition to our range; The HeartHero Elliot Fully Automatic Defibrillator. This device is compact, lightweight and fully automatic, giving you defibrillator access that will slip into your backpack or the glove compartment of your car.
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are usually designed to be fixed in one location and are located in cabinets in workplaces, schools, gyms and community spaces to protect them and to provide quick access in an emergency.
This is the ideal solution for these locations. But, what if you’re not in one of these locations? For the following situations, a fixed defibrillator may be too far away.
For every minute without CPR and defibrillation, the chances of survival can decrease by up to 10%, so having immediate access to a defibrillator and not having to wait for emergency services to arrive can make all the difference.
Portable AEDs help to solve this. They provide protection beyond the community or workplace, giving you coverage in real-world environments and situations.
The HeartHero Elliot is designed to be easy to use while on the go and is small and lightweight enough to be carried with you in any situation. Here are some of its key features:
The HeartHero device is fully automatic which means it analyses the patient’s heart rhythm, determines whether a shock is needed and delivers one with no shock button to press. This makes the device easy for anyone, whether trained or untrained, to use and reduces hesitation to save precious seconds in an emergency.
A key barrier to having AEDs that can be carried around has been size and weight. The HeartHero is lightweight and compact so it can be easily carried in a backpack, sports kit or vehicle without becoming too heavy or taking up too much space.
This device provides rescuers with step-by-step instructions to guide users through exact pad placements, CPR and shock delivery. This allows anyone to act quickly and confidently to potentially save a life.
The HeartHero device is designed to be used on both adults and children with no need to change pads, reducing confusion and saving time in an emergency.
The AED runs daily self-checks to check the status of the pre-installed pads and battery, and will alert you through audio or visual prompts if there is a problem with your device. Monthly diagnostics are also run, ensuring your device stays rescue ready and keeping you prepared for any situation.

You may already own a CELLAED device or be aware of them. This was the only portable AED on the market but, after being withdrawn from the market and the manufacturer now in administration, we’ve been waiting for the development of the HeartHero as a replacement.
The latest device offers enhanced portability, more intuitive operation and greater suitability for mobile environments, so provides an upgrade. At Defib4Life, part of the service we offer is finding the latest products on the market so you always have the most practical and reliable solution for your needs. We have been waiting for this device to enter the market and we’re excited to be able to tell you all about it.
In true form, and because we know how important access to an AED is, we took a HeartHero device out on our latest team walk. We weren’t expecting an emergency, but sudden cardiac arrest can strike anywhere, anytime so we made sure we were prepared!
The device was light enough to be carried in a backpack so we could see how easily it can be transported when you’re out hiking in a remote location where defibrillator access is limited.
We were pleased to be able to take the device with us to test it so we can provide our customers with clear advice and guidance on the right product for them.
Fixed AEDs will always be essential but portable devices can be particularly valuable for:
A portable AED can provide valuable added reassurance and protection in the event of an emergency and could save a life in a remote location or somewhere that a defibrillator would not be immediately accessible otherwise.
The HeartHero Elliot Portable AED is now available at Defib4Life. If you’d like to know more about how a portable defibrillator could provide a solution for your organisation or workplace, please get in touch with our team. We always offer impartial advice to ensure you buy the right device for your needs.
