Turtle Engineering Ltd have developed the Outdoor Insulated Locked Defibrillator Cabinet (AWC004-Ins) to allow businesses and communities to house a defibrillator outside for public use in locations where it is not possible to supply electricity to the cabinet. While it’s always best to use a heated outdoor cabinet if possible (like our AWC001 cabinet), we understand that there are some locations where that’s not an option. This cabinet allows you to have a defibrillator in those remote areas while keeping it safe and secure and offering some protection from the cold. We have provided our insulated cabinets to locations without power such as large fishery sites, popular forestry and walking areas.
This outdoor insulated defib cabinet will work with all publicly accessible defibrillators currently available on the market.
The AWC004-Ins cabinet can be mounted on any wall or flat service, mounted on a pole using our Pole Mount Kit or mounted on a Plinth using our Plinth kit.
Care instructions for unheated cabinets
If you have a defibrillator in an insulated cabinet, check it regularly, especially during cold winters. Make sure to put the defibrillator in a jacket or insulated bag. Keep in mind that the defibrillator’s battery may deteriorate faster in a non-heated cabinet. Nonetheless, tests done by the West Midlands Ambulance Service have shown that storing the defibrillator pads in cooler temperatures doesn’t cause any damage or reduce their effectiveness. It’s always a good idea to bring the defibrillator inside during extremely cold periods though and let the local ambulance service know it won’t be available temporarily.
