Why do you need to replace your AED pads?

AED pads have an expiry date because they contain a conductive gel that enables the device to analyse the patient's heart rhythm and deliver a shock. Over time, this gel can dry out which can affect the performance of your defibrillator. 

Defibrillator pads are single-use so need to be replaced if they've been used, expired or damaged to ensure your AED remains rescue ready. Keeping spare pads available and ensuring they're in date ensures your defibrillator is able to deliver a life-saving shock if needed.
