Stryker is one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, they provide innovative products and solutions for emergency care, including AEDs. Stryker are committed to making public access defibrillators more accessible in the hopes to save more lives. The Forward Hearts Program helps bring more life-saving defibrillators into the community by giving survivors of sudden cardiac arrest the opportunity to pay it forward and donate a defibrillator to an organisation of their choice.
How does it work?
In order to be approved for Stryker’s Forward Hearts Program there are a few qualifications that must be met regarding the event:
Event:
Stryker must receive the original event file from the defibrillator and a Customer Event Report form. The event must have been a sudden cardiac arrest (this will be reviewed by the Stryker Clinical team), which the patient must have survived until hospital entry. The AED that was used for the rescue also must be a Stryker device (CR Plus, LIFEPAK EXPRESS AED, LIFEPAK CR2 or HeartSine Samaritan PAD) and must have been used by a non-professional (layperson).
Donation:
The survivor must approve the donation and submit a signed Donation Details form. They must also choose which organisation they would like to donate the defibrillator to, this can be a for profit or non-profit organisation. They must also choose if they would like the donation to publicised, or if they would like the donation to be anonymous.
